THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GROWTH, CULTURE, INNOVATION & THE ECONOMY

The word ‘vibrant’ has become a popular term used to describe some ideal state which all cities should strive to achieve in order to thrive. But what exactly are ‘vibrant cities’? What are the characteristics of these cities which make them so ideal?

Essentially vibrant cities are production centres for culture, innovation and economic development. Cities that are considered vibrant tend to consist of a community of neighborhoods, celebrating their roots while at the same time, embracing future growth and its coming changes nimbly.

Embracing growth is absolutely necessary in order to build a vibrant, diversified urban and rural environment and economy. Therefore, in Regina, we should strive to support and encourage growth. To do this, we must ensure that our city continues to offer the quality of life that current citizens expect and that prospective citizens will value. The result, will be sustainable growth that drives economic activity, celebrates culture, and encourages innovation for years to come.
